Gascoyne Junction has been awarded as a Tidy Town Winner for 2020 in the General Appearance Category of the Tidy Towns Sustainable Communities Awards.

'Many West Australians have been wandering out yonder this year, meaning the whole State has benefitted from the efforts of people in our regional communities in making our regional centres even nicer places to visit', stated Environment Minister Stephen Dawson.

The General Appearance category recognises improvements to a community’s general appearance looking at features such as entries and approaches to the town, business and retail areas, sporting areas, public parks and gardens, private homes and streets, including footpaths and verges and the restoration of prominent buildings. The shire prides itself on delivering and maintaining a high level of service to our community.  Some of the most recent outcomes include new footpaths in town, upgrades to the town pavilion, the resealing and kerbing of Hatch Street, the sale of town blocks, a town beautification project and delivery of COVID19 relief packages.

This award would not be possible without the efforts of our staff Sean, Nat and Ali for the all the work they put in to make our little town stand out and to Amanda for her tireless work in putting the application together.  Great work team.
