About the Kennedy Loop Track
The Kennedy Loop Track is an adventure just waiting for the 4WD enthusiast. Test your skills and journey into the remote and rugged beauty of Kennedy Range National park. There is no phone service, no fuel and the track is suitable only for 4WD vehicles with their experienced crew. The track has been rated moderate with extreme places providing access to the remote Western side of the Kennedy Range before crossing over the range top to enjoy the more accessible eastern side. Travellers will need to allow a minimum of 1.5 days to complete this 270km epic trip from Junction to Junction.
2026 Update
The western side of Kennedy Range has reopened on July 2, 2026 giving access to the 4WD Loop Track.
Below are a few notes in regards to this reopening:
The Track:

The Gascoyne River crossing at the south of the Loop Track is open with caution. There is still water in the crossing so proceed with caution.

Crossing the river is at your own risk

The track is for 4WD vehicles only NO TOWING
Camping:

There is NO CAMPING on the escarpment

There are only TWO DESIGNATED OVERNIGHT CAMPSITES in Kennedy Range National Park & the Loop Track: these are at Temple Gorge Campground & Charffcutter Springs

For those wishing to camp, all visitors must be full self contained.

There are to be NO FIRES lit within the Kennedy Range National Park with the exception of the Temple Gorge Campground where there is a communal fire pit.

The DBCA Yinggarda Team will be patrolling and working on the Loop Track most days.
