NOTICE FOR RESIDENTS OF THE UPPER GASCOYNE FROM THE AUSTRALIAN ELECTORAL COMMISSION

At the recent federal election, there was a lack of notice from the Australian Electoral Commission of their commitment to delivering a remote mobile polling station for residents of the Upper Gascoyne prior to the May 3, 2025 Federal Election.

The first Shire and CRC staff were aware of the visit was in a phone call the morning of the polling station being held. Shire and CRC staff tried to communicate the opportunity to vote in person to as many residents as possible in the short time frame.

On behalf of electors in the Shire of Upper Gascoyne, the lack of notification was followed up with the Australian Electoral Commission and we have received the following response from them outlining why the notice of the remote mobile polling was not provided, what residents that were unable to vote should do, how to respond to an 'apparent failure to vote' notice and steps that residents can take to become General Postal voters for future elections.
